Firozabad police
seized Indian made foreign liquor worth Rs 16 lakh which was been smuggled in the district from Haryana in a truck. Police also held two men, including the truck driver.
According to police, total
550 cartons of liquor
made in Himachal Pradesh for sale in Arunachal Pradesh was seized from Nh-2 near Rupaspur village of Makhanpur police jurisdiction.
Total 550 cartons of liquor seized. Sujat Hussain, station officer of Makhnapur, said, “While patrolling on NH-2 on Tuesday night, an input was received about the illegal liquor consignment being smuggled in the area. The truck with Haryana registration number plate was intercepted and checked. We found the 550 cartons of IMFL.”
“During the interrogation, the driver and his accomplices - identified as Yusuf of Meerut and Neeraj of Kannauj - revealed that they were asked to smuggle he liquor from Panipat to Firozabad,” added the officer.
As the elections are coming near, local police teams have increased crackdown on the illegal liquor smuggling in the state.
On March 23, in two different raids , Etah and Mathura police, along with the excise department, seized 718 cartons of illegal consignment of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) and country-made liquor and 605 cartons of country-made liquor from Rajasthan–registered truck and Lucknow registered SUV.
