AGRA: After failing to meet the deadline for laying water pipelines in the city, Jal Nigam’s move to hand the task over to Jal Sansthan has come into question. Claiming that the pipelines placed by Nigam are inferior, Jal Sansthan has denied accepting the proposition. State authorities had earlier expressed displeasure over the issue with local officials.
As per sources, the state government had released the budget to Jal Nigam for filling of gaps and completion of work eight months ago. But problems due to leaks and improper water supply continue till date. Crores of rupees have been sanctioned to Jal Nigam by the state government for the task.
Manju Gupta, general manager of Jal Sansthan said, “Jal Nigam is trying to hand over the responsibility for the technical failure of the pipelines to the Sansthan. Sansthan has forwarded a detailed report regarding the matter to higher authorities. No handover exercise will be considered until the work done by Nigam passes a technical test.”
On the other hand, PK Chauhan, chief engineer of Jal Nigam has said, “The work done by Nigam is on par with the technical norms. Quality pipelines have been laid through proper utilization of funds. Allegations made by Jal Sansthan are incorrect and unreasonably showing us in bad light.”
