Stranger ogles at, then shoots at Taekwondo teacher
ALIGARH: A martial art class was under way on Thursday when a stranger barged into the room with a gun in his hand and attempted to kill the taekwondo instructor.
The accused, identified as Rohit Yadav, along with an unidentified man, was gawking at taekwondo champion Shalini Chauhan while she was training her students at Neehar Meena Senior Secondary School.

Yadav refused to budge from the spot despite the woman objecting to his presence. It was only when Chauhan threatened to complain to the cops did he leave, only to return with a gun ten minutes later.
A rattled Chauhan (35), recounting the grim incident, said she was “shocked” to see the man come back with a tamancha just ten minutes after he had been admonished. “Initially, he (and his friend) refused to go away. They left only when I told them that I would complain to the authorities,” the taekwondo gold-medalist said. “However, to my shock, he returned with a tamancha and threatened to kill me by placing a gun on my forehead.”
But the accused’s plan to murder the girl was foiled by the security guards, who were quick to sense danger. He pulled the trigger on her but the guards’ timely shove meant that the man was unsuccessful in shooting Chauhan dead. Despite his attempt going in vain, the man continued to intimidate her.
“The man kept shouting his name and continued to threaten me. He kept saying, ‘My name is Rohit Yadav and I will not leave you alone’,” she said. Chauhan added that she had never met the man before.
An FIR has been registered by the police after she approached city SSP Mohit Gupta with her case. The matter will be handled by Kwarsi police station. Station officer R B Singh has pledged to nab the suspect.
