72-year-old woman killed in Firozabad wall collapse

/ FIROZABAD: A 72-year-old woman was killed in Firozabad on Friday late night, as a wall of her house collapsed on her due to a heavy downpour while she was sleeping inside.

The victim, Amrita Devi, wife of Ramprasad, was alone in the house in Kheria village of

Jasrana

police jurisdiction, when the wall came down on her, killing her instantly. After the incident, local police took the victim’s body for post-mortem. Sub divisional magistrate of Jasrana, Rizwan Ahmad, gave a Rs 4 lakh compensation cheque to the victim’s kin.

Meanwhile, another wall collapsed in Haiwatpur village of Sirsaganj, injuring four members of a family. The victims were taken to a hospital for first aid.

According to the Meteorological Department of India, in last one week between August 30 to September 5, Firozabad district reported an excessive rainfall of 124.7 mm, which is 252 % more than normal.
