Agra: People cutting across religions converged on Tuesday for a prayer service at Mankameshwar temple here in remembrance of Dhaka attack victim Tarishi Jain and others.

Later, heads of all religions unanimously condemned the attack and said that those who perpetrated the crime have no religion.

Maulana Mohmmad Uzair Alam, city kazi, said, “According to teachings of Islam, one should live in peace and brotherhood and show compassion to their fellow companions. Those who were involved in the terror attack in Dhaka could not be followers of Islam. I would appeal to people to become spiritual, and not spread hatred in the name of religion. As a follower of Prophet Muhammad, we cannot think of hurting others even in our dreams.”

Lauding the sacrifice of Faraaz Hossain, a Bangladeshi Muslim, who was given the option of leaving by the terrorists but decided to stay to protect his friends including Tarishi, Alam said the 20-year-old boy taught the lesson of Islam to the world.

Mankameshwar temple mahant Yogesh Puri, said, “The aim of today’s meet is to condole deaths of 20 people who were killed in the Dhaka attack. We also want to send a message that terrorism should not be linked to any particular religion. Many people are trying to malign the name of Islam, which is wrong. We belong to a city where Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb flourished.”

Religious leaders like Bhante Gyan Ratan of Boddh Vikshu Sangh, Ajaib Singh of Gurudwara Guru Ka Taal and Father Moon Lazarus of St. Mary’s Church also expressed solidarity in these times of violence.
