: The district hospital here is grappling with the problem of a rabid dog that has bitten four visitors in the premises.

Witness claimed to have seen the dog moving about freely in the hospital premises such as the

OPD

, general wards and other common areas. Expressing fears, both patients and their attendants blamed the hospital administration for not taking any steps to control the rabid dog.

Ashok Pandey

a patient who came to see his one of the relatives, was bitten by the mad dog. He said, “As I parked my scooter, I was bitten by the mad dog. After that, I asked for the anti-rabies shots but I was asked to visit the next day.”

He added, “A child was also bitten by the dog and so were two other visitors.”

Another visitor, said, “Dogs roam about freely everywhere and sometimes become aggressive and bite to the visitors.”

Subodh Kumar

said the dog had been caught and those who were bitten were given immediate treatment at the hospital. “About other strays, we have asked the Agra municipal officials to catch them, ” he added.

According to official sources at the anti-rabies Ward wf the district hospital, “Everyday around 300-350 patients visit the ward.”
