Agra: During a roadshow in Fatehpur Sikri Lok Sabha constituency on Friday,
Congress leader
Priyanka Gandhi promised that the Agniveer scheme would be scrapped and 30 lakh vacant posts would be filled if the party forms govt after the elections. She highlighted her brother Rahul Gandhi’s extensive efforts to connect with people, including his remarkable 4,000 km foot march from Kanyakumari to J&K, aimed at understanding issues of the people.
Priyanka also accused PM Narendra Modi of prioritising personal luxuries over welfare of farmers.
During the roadshow in support of Congress candidate Ramnath Sikarwar, Priyanka slammed the PM for neglecting the needs of the common people and misleading them during elections.
Addressing the crowd during the 1.5 km roadshow, Priyanka said, “Modi ji has not done anything for the farmers and the poor. He has only run his govt for his rich friends.” “You get 5 kg of ration. It is good for the poor but why are you not getting jobs. They (BJP-led NDA) want to make you reliant on this 5 kg of ration. They don’t want you to become self-reliant,” she said. “Modi ji has always remained busy visiting other parts of the world but never comes close to you to understand your problems. One who gets power often gets arrogant...,” she said. Highlighting Congress candidate Ramnath Sikarwar’s integrity as a retired Army veteran, Priyanka emphasized his suitability to become an MP.
In Fatehpur Sikri, polling is slated for May 7 during the third phase of the ongoing seven-phase Lok Sabha elections, where Sikarwar is challenging incumbent BJP MP Raj Kumar Chahar.
