Pregnant woman, farmer electrocuted to death in Firozabad village

Agra: A 30-year-old pregnant woman and a 24-year-old farmer were electrocuted to death in Kalyanpur village of Firozabad district on Tuesday. Nilesh Devi Yadav came in contact with a live iron pipe attached to a tin shed outside her house when she was washing utensils, while farmer Vijay Sharma, from the neighbourhood, rushed to rescue her, police said on Wednesday.

Villagers and family members immediately took both victims to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Police said Nilesh Devi is survived by her five-year-old son Anmol and husband, Jitendra Kumar Yadav, who was at work in a factory when the accident occurred. Vijay was unmarried and was the youngest of four brothers and helped his elderly father with farming activities.

DSP Amrish Kumar said, “The bereaved families declined a post-mortem examination and expressed their unwillingness to pursue legal action. After completing inquest proceedings and other necessary formalities, police handed over the bodies to the families.”
