Agra: A petrol pump employee, Raju Khan, was shot dead on Monday allegedly by three men who then decamped with Rs 9 lakh he was carrying. The incident happened in Hathras district. Khan was on his way to deposit cash in a SBI bank branch in Kasganj district along with a colleague.
According to police, the incident occurred at 3:30 pm in the are under Sikandra Rao police station. Raju Khan and Haqeeqat Ali, employees of Nitanshu filling station, were on their way to deposit Rs 8.86 cash collected in three days' sales at a branch an SBI branch in Mohanpura in Kasganj district.
Three bike-borne youth, with their faces covered, overtook their scooter and opened fire at them. Raju Khan (40), who was sitting on pillion, was shot at.
The trio snatched the cash bag from him and fled. Khan was taken to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
Talking with TOI, superintendent of police, Hathras, Susheel Ghule said, “A case of robbery and murder has been registered against the suspects and the CCTV footage from the area is being examined.”
Earlier, on October 11, an employee of Maa Ganga filling station was shot and injured by six suspects who had stolen money from the office. However, they were nabbed within 72 hours of the incident.
