Mentally disabled Dalit woman gang raped

AGRA: A mentally disabled

Dalit

woman was allegedly gangraped in a remote area of

Agra district

by two men of some other community.


The incident took place on Sunday afternoon while the victim (27), hailing from Chhit village of

Kheragarh

police jurisdiction, was collecting firewoods near Kagraul canal. She was allegedly picked up by two motorcycle borne accused, who took her to a secluded place behind a local girl’s inter-college under Kagraul police jurisdiction.

Station house officer of Kagraul, Sanjul Pandey said, “The victim was rescued by local farmers who heard the distressed woman’s wails. They caught the accused who were identified as Aslam Qureshi and

Akhlaq Qureshi

. We have booked the accused under IPC sections 376 D and ST/SC act.”

On Monday, victim was sent for medical examination at government women hospital, while the two accused were presented in the court for judicial remand.

Victim is married to a daily wage labourer. At the time of incident, victim’s husband was at work.
