Man shoots his grandnephew over land dispute

: A man in his seventies, Radha Kishan, allegedly shot dead his grandnephew, who is all of 16-years-old, over a farm

in Farrukhabad on Tuesday morning. The accused, along with his three sons, has been absconding since.

The victim was identified as Suryansh Awasthi, alias Tanu (16). The incident occurred in Amritpur area at around 8 am. Awasthi had gone to the disputed land to collect cattle fodder when his grandfather pulled a country-made pistol on him. The assailants, which included Kishan’s sons, also attacked Awasthi’s father, Rajiv Awasthi, a homeguard, who had come to his rescue.

Police was deployed at the spot to avoid any unrest.

Awasthi was the youngest among three siblings. He was a student of intermediate school and was preparing to join the police force. He is survived by his parents and two sisters. Learning about the incident, local police of Amritpur, along with circle officer Surendar Kumar, reached the spot.

Station house officer of Amritpur Pankaj Kumar said, “Based on a written complaint filed by Rajiv Awasthi, we have filed an FIR against Radha Kishan and his three sons Gaurav, Shivam and Komal. All the accused are on the run.”

He added, “Radha Kishan is the uncle of the victim’s father. The two families have a dispute over a farm land. On Tuesday morning, Radha Kishan allegedly shot the teenager boy.”
