Agra: A 22-year-old man died after he was allegedly beaten by his father following a drunken altercation in Bajidpur village of Hathras district, police said on Wednesday.
Police said Satveer Singh had a dispute with his father
Komal Singh, 50, on Tuesday night and the latter allegedly struck him on the head and chest with a stick, causing severe injuries.
Family members rushed Satveer to a private hospital in Aligarh where doctors, citing his critical condition, referred him to the medical college. However, he succumbed to his injuries en route.
The body was subsequently brought back to the village by relatives. Police reached the scene and took the body into custody for post-mortem. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Residents said Satveer, a daily wage worker, is survived by three children.
They added that the accused, under the influence of alcohol, had verbally abused Satveer before the assault.
Deputy SP Jayendra Nath Asthana said, "Both father and son had a history of quarrels after drinking. During a heated argument, the father attacked his son with a stick, resulting in fatal injuries."
A case under BNS section 103 (murder) has been registered at Sikandra Rao police station and a team has been deployed to trace and arrest the missing accused.
