Man held for killing brother, dumping body in ditch
Agra: A 28-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stabbing his elder brother to death and burying the body in a ditch following a property dispute in Agra’s Malpura area.
Aneet Yadav, 30, had gone missing on May 7 night after telling family members he was going to sleep at the farm. The next day, his wife Pinki approached Malpura police station, following which a kidnapping case was registered.
“While analysing CCTV footage, call detail records and other technical evidence, we intensified the investigation and arrested the accused, Manish Yadav, from outside Baikheda village,” said Malpura inspector (crime) Sachin Chawla.
“Based on his confession, Aneet’s body was recovered from a trench dug for a Ganga water pipeline near Rohta canal. During investigation, murder and destruction of evidence charges were added,” he added.
Police said the two brothers, both farmers, cultivated the same plot of land and had not been on speaking terms for nearly two years due to a property dispute.
DCP (East) Abhishek Kumar Agrawal said the accused told police that Aneet frequently quarrelled with family members over the property issue and had allegedly assaulted their grandmother and mother a few days before the incident.
“When Manish intervened, he too was assaulted. Fed up with the repeated disputes, he stabbed his brother and buried the body in an attempt to destroy evidence,” Agrawal said.
Manish was produced before a court and later sent to judicial custody.
