Agra: The court of additional district judge (ADJ-14) Amit Kumar Tiwari in Aligarh sentenced a 50-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his wife, in her early 30s, and their two-year-old son over suspicions of infidelity and doubt about the child's paternity.
According to additional district govt counsel (ADGC) Ravikant Sharma, the accused, Pawan Kumar, a resident of Sikanderpur Mazra village in Jawan area, slit his wife Meena's throat with a sharp weapon before brutally crushing his son Nishant's head with a brick.
Meena's brother, Himanshu from Bulandshahr's Biraura village, filed a police complaint on March 26, 2016. He said that Meena had been married to Pawan since 2003. On the day of the incident, he was informed of the murders and rushed to Aligarh, where he found bloodstains inside the house, and Meena and her son were missing. Pawan was present at the scene.
A case was registered, leading to Pawan's arrest under IPC section 302 (murder).
Given the brutality of the crime, the prosecution sought the death penalty. However, based on the investigation, evidence, and witness testimonies, the court, finding the accused guilty, delivered the life sentence on Wednesday. Additionally, a fine of Rs 50,000 was imposed, with a portion allocated as compensation for the victim's family, the ADGC added. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with
