Man gets death for killing 3 policemen, 1 civilian in 2005

AGRA: A local court in Farrukhabad sentenced a man to death for killing three police personnel and one civilian in 2005.

Special judge (anti-robbery) Krishna Kumar also imposed a fine of Rs 7 lakh on the convict, informed Additional District Government Counsel (ADGC) KK Pandey on Sunday.

Farrukhabad SP Vikas Kumar said, “The then inspector Anand Kumar posted at Kampil police station along with a few PAC constables had gone to Katri village to arrest a hardened dacoit Kalua, on September 9, 2005. Kalua and his gang members fired indiscriminately on the police team killing PAC head constable Chandrapal Singh, constables Ishrat Ali and Dilip Kumar, and Drigpal, a local, on the spot.”

“Later, inspector Anand Kumar filed a police complaint against Kalua and his gang members including his close ally Devendra Kumar Fauji. Months later, Kalua and some of his associates were killed in a police encounter in Bareilly, while Fauji and another accused Ram Singh were arrested and sent to jail. On Friday, the court sentenced Fauji to death, and Singh was acquitted due to a lack of evidence,” the SP added.

According to the ADGC, the case had been registered under relevant sections of the IPC including 307 (attempt to murder), and 302 (murder).
