Man accused of eloping with teen, arrested

Agra: More than seven months after a 25-year-old man eloped with a teenager in Etah district, he was

arrested

on Tuesday morning by local police.

Identified as Mukesh, resident of Saungra village under Pilua police jurisdiction, the accused was booked in February under IPC section 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping to compel woman for marriage) and 376 (rape) and POCSO Act.

According to police, the accused was 16-year-old victim’s neighbour. On February 25, the two were found missing. After which the girl’s parents lodged an FIR against three person, including Mukesh’s friend Bunty Singh who helped the duo elope. Bunty was arrested in June while the girl was rescued in March.

Station house officer of Pilua Atul Kumar Gautam said, “The accused was absconding after the FIR, so a reward of Rs 10,000 was declared on him. We arrested the accused from his home on Tuesday.”
