Lord Krishna taught us to follow path of truth and justice: UP CM Yogi Adityanath
AGRA: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, on Janmashtami and offered prayers at the Krishna Janmasthan temple, which was decorated as a prison for the occasion.
Yogi called Janmashtami a sacred festival and said, "5,251 years ago, Leeladhari Shri Krishna, as the complete incarnation of Shri Vishnu, descended to earth at this very place as the son of Devaki and Vasudev. He fulfilled the divine mission of establishing religion, truth, and justice during the Dwapara Yuga and blessed the world with the eternal mantras of the Bhagavad Gita."
He prayed for the nation's prosperity and added, "Shri Krishna guided us to follow the path of religion, truth, and justice. By adhering to these principles, we can contribute wholeheartedly to public and national welfare. I hope God grants us the strength to ensure our personal, family, social, and national lives are blessed and prosperous. Together, let us strive towards realising the vision of a developed India."
The CM also conducted the ‘Panchamrit Snan’ for Lord Krishna, inspected the temple grounds, and offered prasad to devotees. Earlier, he visited Vrindavan to offer prayers at the Banke Bihari temple.
During his Mathura visit, Yogi also inaugurated 137 development projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure, improving public amenities, and fostering economic growth in the district.
Meanwhile, Janmashtami celebrations continued across the state, with devotees waiting for the abhishek ritual, which is performed at midnight to mark Lord Krishna's birth. During this sacred ceremony, the idol of Lord Krishna is bathed in milk, yoghurt, honey, ghee, and water.
Kapil Sharma, secretary of Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan, said, "As Janmashtami approaches, the festive spirit is palpable as thousands of devotees gather at iconic Krishna temples, particularly the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan and the Krishna Janmasthan temple in Mathura.
These sacred sites, closely linked to the birth of Lord Krishna, are transformed into celestial sanctuaries adorned with exquisite floral decorations and vibrant lighting, creating a divine ambience."
