Letter warning of blasts at temples in Varanasi surfaces in Mathura

AGRA: A letter threatening a series of

bomb explosions

at temples in Varanasi sent the

UP police

into a tizzy on Sunday.

Police said a

handwritten letter

was received at

malgodam road

in Mathura threatening that

Pashupatinath temple

in Varanasi will be blown up on May 12 and world religious sites and Shiv statue in Varanasi will be blown on May 13



Station house officer

of highway police station in Mathura, Udayveer Malik said that a case has been registered under section 153-B (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration) against unknown.

Talking to TOI, ADG (Agra zone), Ajay Anand said, “we have already strengthened security and are investigating the matter”. Varanasi police officials and ATS have also been informed about the letter.
