Uttar Pradesh: Land mafia harvested my wheat crop, says soldier's widow

AGRA: A 28-year-old widow of an Indian Army soldier, who died on duty in 2016, has been running from pillar to post imploring officials to save her wheat crop from the land mafia, who are eyeing to grab her land. She alleged that her requests to the local police and administrative officials for help have fallen on deaf ears. Lalita Devi was allotted 15 bigha land by the state government in 2017 after her husband's death.
"The local land mafia had been eyeing my land since then and made various attempts to grab my land. Today, a group of men arrived and started harvesting my crop. I immediately contacted the local police and went to the office of tehsildar and sub-divisional magistrate but no one came for my help. I watched helplessly as my crop was being cut down right in front of my eyes. Now, they are threatening to throw me out of the village. I request chief minister Yogi Adityanath for urgent intervention," she said. Jalesar SDM Alankar Agnihotri said, "Taking cognizance of Lalita Devi's complaint, I have asked the lekhpal to conduct an investigation and submit a report. According to the gram pradhan, the exact measurement of the land allotted to her in 2017 were not properly defined."
