AGRA: Kerala journalist Siddiqu Kappan, who has been lodged in Mathura prison for more than six months on the charges of sedition and terror, tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. He was admitted to a private medical college.

Confirming this, senior superintendent of Mathura prison Shailendra Maitrey said Kappan was shifted to KM Medical College for the treatment of

Covid

on Wednesday. After he fainted inside the barrack last night, he was shifted to the prison hospital, where he tested positive for Covid-19, said Maitrey, adding that his condition is stable.

Meanwhile, two other prisoners — Atikur Rahman and Mohammad Aalam — lodged with Kappan were found to be negative for the disease, said jail officials.

Kappan and three others — Masood Ahmad, Atikur Rahman and Mohammad Aalam — were arrested on October 5 when they were on their way to Hathras to meet the family of a Dalit girl, who was allegedly gangraped and murdered.
