In two encounters on a single night, Etah police nab 11 robbers

: In two encounters in the night of Friday and Saturday, Etah police arrested 11 robbers.

The first encounter occurred in Malawan police jurisdiction here, with cops apprehending five men who had hijacked Rs 25 lakh worth of goods along with a truck earlier on July 2. Later the truck was recovered but the cargo of grocery was missing.

“It was a joint operation of Dehat Kotwali and Malawan, who got an input about a gang hiding in an abandoned cold storage unit close to Rampur village on Ganjdundwara road. The gang members were armed but after a brief encounter on Friday night, five men along with three country-made pistols, 10 bullets, one SUV and Rs 15 lakh worth of looted groceries were recovered. In the encounter, two men managed to flee,” said Etah superintendent of police, Akhilesh Chaurasia.

The apprehended men were identified as Rishi Kumar, Rahul, Anup Singh, Vinayak Mishra and Prashant, while Chotu and Sonu Pandit managed to flee. All the accused are history sheeters.

Another encounter was reported in Baghwala, where six cattle thieves were arrested with two country-made pistols, three buffaloes and a pick-up truck after an encounter. According to police, the accused were involved in 150 cattle thefts and robberies in the district. Six other men managed to flee.

, Vijaypal and Nirmla, while her husband Karu and other gang members such as

Nepal

Yadav, Madan Lal, Brijesh, Guddu Banjara and Suresh Yadav managed to flee.

“The gang were heading to execute another theft of cattle, but were caught from Amapur road after an encounter. Soon we will nab the remaining members too,” said SP Chaurasia.
