'Attacked her with knife': How suspicion over relationship led to HR manager's beheading inside her workplace
AGRA: A 32-year-old HR manager at a private company in Uttar Pradesh's Agra was beheaded in her office and her legs dismembered allegedly by her lover for talking to another man.
The accused then put the head in a backpack and the rest of the body parts in a plastic bag and carried these on her scooter to Jawahar Bridge to dump it into the Yamuna. There was no one else in office at the time of the attack on the victim.
When he failed to lift the bag and noticed some passersby, he abandoned the bag and fled. Later, he disposed of the head, the victim's clothes, mobile phone and bag into a drain, and left the scooter at a secluded place.
Police on Monday said the body parts were found stuffed in a gunny bag near the bridge in the early hours of Jan 24. The head is still missing. During the probe, it was found that the victim was Minky Sharma, a resident of Agra's Tedhi Bagiya, under Trans Yamuna police station. She worked with a private company in posh Sanjay Place. Accused Vinay Singh (30) worked in the same office as a computer operator, and the two were in a relationship for over two years.
The family of the victim has denied that the two were in a relationship.
Vinay was arrested on Monday and he confessed to the crime, said police. "Vinay became suspicious after learning that Minky had been in touch with another man for the past six months, leading to frequent arguments between the two. On Jan 23, Minky left home around 2 pm informing her family she was going to office. When she did not return until late evening and her phone was found switched off, the family searched for her and filed a missing complaint," Trans Yamuna police station SHO Dharmendra Kumar said.
DCP (City) Sayed Ali Abbas said, "Vinay worked with Minky for the past two years and had some dispute with her. He wanted to marry her, but she refused. When she arrived at her office on Jan 23, they had an argument. He attacked her with a knife, inflicting a fatal blow on her neck. He then dismembered the body. Minky's family members have identified the body."
"Footage of CCTVs at various places in the city helped in identifying the accused," said a police officer.
An FIR was registered at Trans Yamuna police station under BNS sections 103(1) (murder), 238 (destroying evidence) and sections of the Arms Act.
