AGRA: A 30-year-old married man was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district allegedly by his minor girlfriend's brother on Tuesday morning.
Arjun Singh of Suhagpur village under Naujheel police station was sitting near a temple with his friends when the girl's brother, Harsh Singh (21), and his cousin Bobby (23) approached him and took him towards the temple on the pretext of discussing some matter.
"Once they reached the temple, Harsh allegedly fired at Arjun with a country-made pistol. Family members rushed Arjun to the nearby community health centre, where doctors declared him dead," a police officer said.
As news of Arjun's death spread, the minor girl attempted suicide by hanging herself inside their house.
Alerted by her mother's screams, villagers rushed in and brought her down. She was first taken to a local hospital from where she was referred to a hospital in Mathura city. Later, she was taken to SN Medical College in Agra as her condition was critical.
SP (rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said, "Arjun worked as a truck driver. Investigation is on in the matter. A forensic team collected samples. An FIR has been registered against two persons."
