Govt school teacher kills self, her video viral on social media

Agra: A 33-year-old teacher of a government school in Kasganj area killed herself by consuming posion and made a video of the incident using her mobile phone. In the 63-second-long video which went viral on Monday, the victim, Ranjana Singh from Mainpuri, can be purportedly seen narrating the reason behind her drastic step and saying, “I bother you a lot. Will not do it from now on.I will never. Just take care of my five-year-old daughter...” According to Ranjana’s family, she married Mahendra Singh, a resident of the Normal Colony under Ganjdundwara police station, on January 29, 2016. After marriage, her in-laws demanded Rs 5 lakh dowry. “Fed up with the daily beatings and harassment, she took the extreme step on Friday,” the family alleged. DSP RK Tiwari said, “Based on the family’s complaint, an FIR was registered against five people under IPC section 306 and the Dowry Prohibition Act. The husband and his parents were arrested and sent to jail following court orders. Two other accused relatives are absconding.” TNN
