:Two girl students at a primary school were found making chapatis in the school premises along with the cook for midday meals to be served to school students.

A video of the incident was made and uploaded online by a local resident from outside the school boundary wall. The video shows the girls in school uniform, cooking food. The basic siksha adhikari has called for a probe into the incident.

The incident took place on Monday at

Runkata

government primary school under

Sikandra

police jurisdiction.

In the video, two girls one of whom is wearing red sweater- part of the school uniform is rolling wheat flour balls on a rolling board to make chapattis, while the other one is chopping vegetables for curry. The school cook, sitting beside them is tossing chapattis on to the LPG stove flame with tongs.

The local resident who shot the video said, “We hardly see any teacher in the school. The students spend their time playing, while some of the girls help with cooking food.”

Speaking to TOI over the phone in the matter, Basic Siksha Adhikari of

Agra Archana Gupta

said, “I have seen the video and have called a probe into the matter.”

She said, “In every primary school there is at least one cook whose job is to prepare the meal. Asking students to cook meals is not at all acceptable. We have sought a written explanation for this from the schoolteachers and the cook. Stringent action will be taken.”
