Four robbers caught in encounter with Etah police

Agra: Etah district police apprehended four robbers after an encounter, on Sunday morning.

The accused were allegedly involved in robbery where they took away Rs 60,000 in cash from a trader, on gun-point, a week ago from Hathras road of Jalesar police jurisdiction. Victim Kapil Kumar, who is a resident of Kanchan Nagar, Hathras had given a written complaint in this regard.

“On Sunday, we got a tip off about the four alleged robbers and we intercepted them near Dilokhara Bridge on Hathras road. The four attempted to escape by firing shots at our team, but they were surrounded and caught,” said station house officer Rakesh Kumar of Jalesar.

The accused were identified as Manoj Vashney, Santosh Sharma, Chandan Raj and Dinesh Kumar. Police recovered four country-made pistols, Rs 35,000 cash and two motor-bikes used in their robberies.

“During interrogation, the accused claimed that have been involved in other robberies as well. Before targeting the victim, they are on a lookout and then rob them on the highway. All accused hail from Hathras,” added SHO.
