Agra: Etah police on Thursday claimed to have arrested seven motorcycle-borne robbers in two different encounters. According to police, three of the accused have 25 criminal cases registered against them.
The first
encounter took place near Dilokhra under Jalesar police jurisdiction. Local police nabbed four robbers who had robbed a local resident at gunpoint in August.
Identified as Saleem, Yasin, Aziz and Dilshad, the four were arrested and country-made weapons were seized from them.
The second encounter took place in a mango orchard on Idgah road under Aliganj police jurisdiction. Three gangsters — Abhay Pandit, Krishna Kumar and Arjun Sharma — were arrested. They had shot and robbed a man on September 5 afternoon while the victim was returning home along with sister on a two-wheeler.
According to superintendent of police, Etah, Ashish Tiwari, “Two back-to-back encounters were carried out to arrest seven armed robbers. Abhay Pandit has seven criminal cases of attempt to murder along with robbery against him while Arjun Sharma is wanted for 15 heinous crimes including murder, while Krishna Kumar was earlier booked in three cases of attempt to murder and robbery.
“For the successful operation, I have awarded Aliganj police Rs 20,000 and Jalesar police team Rs 15,000 for their role in the encounters,” he added.
