NEW DELHI: Delhi couple and their two children were killed in a road accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in the Fatehabad area, police said on Monday.
The victims, who lived in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, were on their way back after participating in the holy ritual at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
The accident took place at approximately 12.30 am on Monday, according to police reports.
The car, driven by Omprakash Singh, aged 42, went out of control. It crossed over the central divider and collided with an oncoming truck on the opposite side of the expressway.
The collision proved fatal for all occupants, including Singh, his 34-year-old wife Purnima, their children Ahana (12) and Vinayak (4), confirmed Assistant Commissioner of Police Amar Deep.
The authorities have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and notified the family members.
"Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver might have dozed off leading to the accident," stated the officer.
