Agra: A 14-year-old student was killed after being run over by a private bus moments after getting off the vehicle near his residence in Motikunj Tiraha of Mathura. The bus has been seized and the driver arrested, police said on Saturday. The incident took place on Friday when Harshit Sharma, a Class 9 student at an Army school, had returned home after appearing for his mathematics exam. The boy's uncle, Harikrishna Sharma, lodged a police complaint stating that Harshit had stepped off the bus when the driver allegedly moved forward negligently, fatally running over the teenager.Police reached the spot and took the driver into custody, and sent the body for postmortem. SHO Shailender Kumar Singh said the bus did not belong to the school. "The driver has been arrested and the bus has been seized. A case has been registered against him under section 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS," he said.Family members said that Harshit usually cycled to school but had taken the bus with his friends that day. His father, Mukesh Sharma, an Army jawan currently posted in Kashmir, was home on leave for Holi at the time of the incident.
