Centre misusing probe agencies: Dimple Yadav on CBI summons

Dimple Yadav criticizes BJP-led Centre for politically motivated ... Read More
AGRA: Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav slammed the BJP-led Centre over CBI summons to her husband former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, and accused it of misusing central probe agencies for its interests. During a visit to UP’s Mainpuri district on Thursday, she said, "He (Akhilesh) is not the first opposition leader to have received CBI summons. Efforts are being made to suppress every section of the society.”

She added, “We have been witnessing the misuse of institutions like the CBI and ED in the country for years. The timing of these summons, just before elections and following the formation of an alliance where we hold a strong position in Uttar Pradesh, suggests a politically motivated move. The ruling party (BJP) is feeling the strength of INDIA alliance. That's why notices are coming.”

The CBI on Thursday issued a summons to Akhilesh Yadav in a case related to the release of mining strips by allegedly violating the e-tendering process during his tenure. Akhilesh, however, did not appear before the CBI.

Dimple said the upcoming Lok Sabha elections are ‘to save democracy.’ “This election is crucial, and it is also an election to save our democracy. We’re getting huge support from several people because everyone is fed up with the current government. The public will teach a lesson to BJP.”
