NEW DELHI: A car driver broke through a barrier at the Khandauli Toll Plaza near Agra and dragged an employee on the bonnet for nearly a kilometer before fleeing the scene, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred around 5.30pm on Thursday when the car, headed to Mathura from Agra, was stopped at the toll plaza after the driver’s FASTag was found to be blacklisted. When asked to pay in cash, the driver allegedly got angry and began abusing the toll staff, police said.
In an attempt to flee, he rammed through the barrier. Toll plaza employee Santosh Kumar stood in front of the vehicle to stop him, but the driver refused to slow down, forcing Kumar to jump onto the bonnet to save himself.
Kumar was dragged for about a kilometer before he managed to jump off, while the driver escaped.
The incident was captured on CCTV, and a case has been registered against the unidentified driver, police added.
