AGRA: In a case of road rage, a 25-year-old tractor-trolley driver was beaten to death after two brothers accused him of not giving way to their motorcycle on Monday evening in Muzaffarnagar district.
The victim, Naveen Kumar, was a resident of Saidkalan village under the Charthawal police station area and worked at Deoband’s sugar mill.
He was returning home after unloading sugarcane at the mill when he was confronted by the two men on a bike near Akhlor village under the Nagar Kotwali police station area.
An argument broke out over Kumar not giving way on the road. The altercation escalated as the brothers called their associates, who attacked Kumar, leaving him unconscious. A passerby found Kumar and alerted the police. He was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police reported that the body was sent for a post-mortem examination, and a case under Section 103 (murder) of the IPC was registered.
Superintendent of Police (City) Satyanarayan Prajapt said, “A team has been deployed to arrest the accused. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations, and further investigation is underway. Action will be taken accordingly.”
A villager claimed that the victim was beaten with a lathi, in addition to being punched and kicked by the attackers. The accused then fled the scene, and a villager called the police.
Station house officer of the Nagar Kotwali police station, Akshay Sharma, stated, “The main accused, Sahdev Singh, 35, has been arrested. His brother, Jay Kumar, 25, and four other unidentified suspects are absconding. They will be arrested soon.”
