BJP worker throws ink on MLA Yogendra Upadhyaya
AGRA: Enraged over ticket distribution, a BJP worker on Monday afternoon allegedly threw ink on Agra South MLA Yogendra Upadhyaya while he was addressing the party workers in Agra.
The incident took place at Jaat House near Agra college ground at around 2 pm. MLA Upadhyaya along with other senior party leaders were gathered at the place to take out a small march till municipal corporation office along with their mayoral candidate Naveen Jain, a real estate developer in the city.
Identified as Jitender Balmiki, resident of Mohangadi, Jewani mandi, the accused was later booked by police under section 392 (punishment for robbery) of IPC.

Lohamandi police station officer Jagdamba Singh said, “Based on the written complaint of Naveen Gautam, aide of MLA Upadhyaya, we lodged a complaint against Jitender, who is absconding after the incident.”
He said, “In the FIR, Gautam claimed that Jitender had first attempted to snatch a gold chain from his neck, but when confronted, he threw ink on the MLA. During the act, certain amount of ink was splashed on other party leaders including the MLA and
When TOI contacted Agra BJP city president Vijay Shivhare, he confirmed the incident.
A party source claimed, that MLA’s entire face was covered in ink. He had to call off his march to municipal corporation.
Superintendent of police, Agra city, Kunwar Anupam Singh said, “During investigation, we found that an enraged BJP worker who was unsatisfied from senior functionary was involved in hurling ink on BJP leaders.”
On anonymity, a senior BJP leader said, “Jitender Balmiki is of unsound mind. He wanted a ticket for councillor post. He did it as he can't get a party ticket.”
After the incident, Jitender Balmiki was assaulted by supporters of the MLA.
