Banke Bihari sevayat alleges threat, seeks police protection
Agra: A sevayat of Shri Banke Bihari Temple and member of its high-powered management committee has sought police protection after alleging that he was threatened at his residence by women from a sevayat family opposed to the proposed Banke Bihari Corridor. An FIR has been registered in the matter.DSP Sadar Pitam Pal Singh said, "The matter is under investigation. An FIR has been registered, and action will be taken as per law."In a complaint, Dinesh Goswami said his life was under threat and that he would skip the committee meeting scheduled for Feb 17 due to security concerns. He alleged that the women entered his house on Sunday afternoon, abused his tenant and issued threats.Goswami submitted CCTV footage and videos to the police, which he said showed the women entering his residence and a beauty parlour operating from the ground floor.As per the complaint, the women questioned his tenant about his whereabouts, threatened to kill him and warned him against involvement in matters related to the proposed corridor. He further alleged that they had been raising slogans against the govt and the committee on the temple chabutra for several weeks to mislead the public. However, the women named in the complaint denied the allegations, saying they had gone to his residence only to seek clarifications and that the incident was being exaggerated.
