AGRA: An Army NCO posted on Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’ Kargil was surprised to know that he was booked for disturbing the peace in Agra while he was guarding the borders.
Naik Pawan Kumar Sharma approached the district administration and claimed that the police have falsely charged eight men including him of disturbing the peace. The additional city magistrate has ordered a probe into the matter.
Speaking to TOI, Naik Sharma said, “Couple of weeks back when I returned home on vacation, my neighbors informed me that police has booked me under abetment charges for breaching the peace. It was shocker for me, as I was guarding mountains in blood freezing temperature and there was no possibility of me being present in Agra.”
“The police booked eight men including me, but the surprising part was that no such incident of breach of peace was reported in my locality, though in adjacent locality someone did allegedly damaged a lord idol. I have contacted district administration and have sort help,” he added.
Resident of Suraj Vihar colony of Surajbhan ki bagichi area in Sikandara, Naik Pawan Kumar Sharma lives with his wife and child. According to police, he was booked under IPC section, 166 (Abetment of offence punishable with imprisonment--if offence be not committed) and 107 (Abetment of a thing).
Naik Sharma claims, he met Additional city magistrate-I who further gave order police to probe into the matter and drop charges if found innocent.
According to station officer of Sikandara, Anil Kumar Yadav said, “No criminal case was registered against him, it was part of investigation, as the situation in locality was tensed after miscreant’s damaged lord idol. We are dropping charges against him.”
