Later, they withdrew the dharna on assurance by the authorities that action will be taken against Imran Ali.
A student leader, Ajay Singh, who is the grandson of BJP legislator Dalveer Singh, said that Imran illegally entered the hostel room and allegedly asked Aadesh to vacate his room. “When Aadesh resisted, Imran beat him,” said Ajay, adding that the victim’s brother, who was also there, immediately informed the proctor team about the incident. The members of proctor team came to the hostel and took both students with them.
Singh said, “I also reached the proctor’s office after getting the information. He said the proctor team assured me of action against the ex-student and agreed to hand-over the matter to the civil lines police station”. He however, alleged that the team allegedly helped Imran to escape from there.
“We are demanding action against the ex-student as such incidents have become routine now,” he said, adding that every second day some Hindu student is beat up by students of the other community. He said, university authority should either admit that they can not provide secure atmosphere to their students or take steps to curb such practices.
Proctor of the university, Mohsin Khan said that they have sent a complaint to the civil lines police station against the ex-student.
He said the issue was related to the allotment of a hostel room. He said, Imran’s brother has been allotted the same room in which Aadesh is staying and there was some altercation between them. “We were resolving the issue, but suddenly Imran disappeared from the spot,” said the Proctor.
