AGRA: Aligarh senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajesh Pandey has written to ADG, Agra zone, demanding action against two constables who allegedly helped the two main accused involved in the sensational murder of Delhi-based builder Rizwan Khan to get themselves arrested in an Arms Act case at Loni border in Ghaziabad, hours before the Aligarh police was about to nab them. The constables were paid Rs 50,000 as bribe for stage managing the arrest and arranging countrymade pistols for the accused.

Talking with TOI, ADG, Agra zone, Ajay Anand confirmed having received the letter from the SSP. He said he had asked his counterpart in Meerut zone to initiate action as both constables are posted in Ghaziabad and demanded strict action against them.
During interrogation by Aligarh police, Sonu Khan, prime accused in the Rizwan murder case, confessed that he had paid Rs 50,000 to constables Pankaj and Vipin Yadav so that he and Afroz could be arrested in an Arms Act case. Sonu told the police that Pankaj, who was earlier posted at Sahibabad police station, was known to him.
Sonu told police that after killing Rizwan, he had approached Pankaj at his residence and had paid him Rs 50,000 for getting him and Afroz arrested under the Arms Act. In fact, Pankaj was also given the task of arranging countrymade pistols for them.
On November 13, Sonu contacted Pankaj again and the latter along with Vipin “arrested” him and Afroz at Loni border police station.
As reported in these columns, Afroz and Sonu had initially approached through their local contacts police at Sahibabad police station for their arrest. Since an alert had been issued in this regard, the officials there refused to oblige and ultimately, the duo stage managed their arrest at Loni border.
On November 11, the completely charred body of a 35-year-old builder from Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar, later identified as Mohammad Rizwan Khan, was found in a burnt Skoda bearing a Noida registration number plate on a link road, 700 metres from the Aligarh-Etah highway. Later, police arrested Rizwan’s wife Nazmeen along with her brother-in-law and lover, Sonu, and his associate, Afroz, for the murder.
