Agra: Woman booked for assaulting mother-in-law

Police has registered an FIR after a video surfaced on social media wherein a 90-year-old woman, Maya Devi, was allegedly beaten up by her daughter-in-law on Saturday in the Bah area of Agra.​

AGRA: Police has registered an FIR after a video surfaced on social media wherein a 90-year-old woman, Maya Devi, was allegedly beaten up by her daughter-in-law on Saturday in the Bah area of Agra.
The video clip shows Maya Devi lying on a cot, beaten up by her daughter-in-law with a broom and later with a stick. The elderly woman was crying profusely in the video and urged for help.
Taking cognisance of the video, Agra police have registered a case against her daughter-in-law identified, Munni Devi (60), under section 151 of CrPC.

The woman was produced in the court of SDM and later released on a bail.
K Ventak Ashok, SP (east) told TOI, that both are widows and stay together in Bhaupura village. The elderly woman’s daughter-in-law told the police that she was upset as the former usually go out without informing her and she has to search for her across the village.
The SP said that Munni Devi was instructed not to misbehave with senior citizens and respect them. Maya Devi was assured for help.
