AGRA: To put a tab on malpractices and restore lost image of Dr
Bhimrao Ambedkar University
, vice-chancellor
Arvind Kumar Dixit
has taken a decision to digitalize all confidential academic records maintained by university from 2001 to 2011. This will ensure no scope for malpractices in verification of marksheets and degree certificates.
Cases of fake marksheets
issued in the name of
Agra University
which surfaced in the recent past has brought a bad name to the institution.
According to sources, a large number of malpractices have surfaced in verification of certificates of marksheets and degree certificates issued between 2001 and 2011. Fake roll numbers were generated and marksheets were issued to candidates who did not appear in the examination. On basis of fake certificates, thousands of candidates managed to secure government jobs.
Recently, the state government directed action against more than 4,000 people who allegedly secured appointment as assistant teachers in state government-run primary schools on the basis of fake B.Ed marksheets. The matter is being probed by Allahabad high court-monitored special investigation team (SIT). In a large number of cases, fake certificates were verified as authentic by university employees. To put tab on such malpractices VC has decided for verification of charts.
Under the VC’s plan to set up an integrated university management system, proposals of top information technology service providers are in consideration.
University public relation officer
GS Sharma
said, “We are actively working on a plan for total digitalization at the university. In the first phase, charts of between 2001 and 2011 will be digitilized. VC wants to implement global best practices in university governance.”
