UP man kills brother after he refuses to share mobile phone password; arrested
AGRA: A 28-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his younger brother after he refused to share his mobile phone password in Tila Maithan area of Agra, police said.
Police added that an argument between Akash Sharma, 24, a cameraman, and his elder brother Gaurav Sharma, a driver, escalated into a violent confrontation around 1am on Saturday.
Akash allegedly smashed household items and repeatedly assaulted Gaurav who lost consciousness and was declared dead at hospital. Locals alerted police after hearing the commotion.
Police said the brothers had longstanding disputes, with the mobile phone issue serving as the immediate trigger. ACP Virendra Kumar said the body has been sent for postmortem.
An FIR has been registered under BNS section 103 (1) (murder) and an investigation into the matter is underway. The accused was arrested later in the day.
Poonam Sharma, the victim's mother, told police that her husband, Om Prakash, had passed away in Dec 2024. She works as a nurse at a private hospital. Her other son, Saurabh, is also a cameraman.
