: More than seven months after a 25-year-old man eloped with a
teenager
girl in
Etah district
of UP, he was arrested on Tuesday morning by local police.
Mukesh - a resident of
Saungra village
of
Pilua
police jurisdiction - was booked in February under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping to compel woman for marriage) and 376 (rape) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
According to police, the accused was a neighbour of the 16-year-old victim. On February 25, the two were found missing. After which girl’s parents lodged an FIR against three person, including Mukesh’s friend Bunty Singh, who helped the duo to
elope
. Bunty was arrested in June month, while girl was recovered in March month.
Atul Kumar Gautam, station house officer of Pilua, said, “The accused was absconding after the FIR, hence a Rs 10,000 reward was declared on him. We arrested the accused from his home on Tuesday.”
