Agra: The district court here received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday, triggering an intensive search operation. However, police said no suspicious object was found during the search.
Officials said the email threatened to blow up the court, following which a joint checking and sanitisation drive was launched by teams led by the ACP (Hariparvat) Akshay Mahadik, along with the ACP (LIU). Personnel from the bomb disposal squad (BDS), Special Security Force (SSF) and dog squad were also deployed.
All three entry gates to the court premises were sealed and the entry of outsiders was prohibited. The court complex was gradually evacuated, vehicles parked inside were checked and individuals present were frisked. Courtrooms were also minutely searched.
After the checking, police confirmed that no suspicious object was found. Security checks in and around the court premises are continuing and will be carried out daily as a precautionary measure.
ACP Mahadik told TOI that the threat was received around noon. "Following the alert, a complete combing operation was conducted. The entire area was evacuated and sanitised by the dog squad. No suspicious object or person has been found so far. Police are on alert, and the email is being examined as part of technical investigation," he said.
About 14 months ago, an email threatening to blow up the Taj Mahal was received, but nothing suspicious was found during search.
