(SDM), Garima Singh on Monday over the issues of distribution of relief to farmers.


A video of the MLA-SDM spat went viral on social media on Tuesday. The incident took place when the MLA had gone to Agra’s

Kiravali

tehsil, where farmers were protesting against the delay in distribution of relief for crop damage due to bad weather.

In the video, the MLA can be heard berating the SDM, saying, “Aap sarkar ke virudh kaam kar rahi hain…humein dikhaana chahti hain aap SDM hain? Aapko maloom nahi main vidhayak hun? Meri taakat ka ehsas nahi hai? Loktantra ka ehsas nahi hai? Ek naukar… (You are working against the government…you want to show me that you are an SDM? Do you not know that I am an MLA? Do you not realise my power… not realise the democracy?… a servant…).”


The subsequent words are inaudible due to the the sloganeering by the crowd.

Agra District Magistrate, Ravi Kumar NG has set up an inquiry into the matter. The inquiry will be conducted by ADM (Administration) Nidhi Srivastava.

When contacted, MLA Uday Bhan Singh said that he did not use any 'abusive' language against the SDM. "I am an MLA and it's my duty to speak if the officials fail to implement government policies," said Uday Bhan, adding that the SDM has not released compensation to the farmers.

He told TOI that he will raise this issue in the assembly session too. "I have already met the DM and informed about all the pending works, which should have been completed a long back."

SDM Kiravali, Garima Singh refused to speak on this issue.
