3-year-old boy dies after stray dog attack in Moradabad

Bareilly: A three-year-old boy, Ayaan, who was attacked by a pack of stray dogs on Aug 22, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday while undergoing treatment. The incident occurred in Sharifnagar village under Thakurdwara police station limits, said officials.
Ayaan, son of daily wager Shamim Ahmad, was playing outside his house when stray dogs mauled him. He sustained eight bite marks and had received four anti-rabies vaccines.
Dr. Rajpal Singh, superintendent of Thakurdwara CHC, said, "The boy was supposed to receive his final anti-rabies vaccine on Sept 5, but he succumbed before that. The family had already buried him by the time we were informed."
Shamim Ahmad, the boy's father, said, "My son remained scared after the attack but we were hopeful as he had been discharged from the hospital. His condition suddenly worsened, and he died before we could take him back to the hospital."
Dr. Ramkishore, a district hospital physician, emphasized the importance of prompt treatment after a dog bite. "The affected area should be washed with soap for half an hour, left open, and a tetanus shot and anti-rabies vaccine should be given within 24 hours," he said.
