Man arrested for killing 3 of family with screwdriver in Bijnor
Bijnor: A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of three family members in their home, with claims that greed for gold and revenge motivated the crime. Nazim, 23, was apprehended after CCTV footage showed him with one of the victims before the incident.Mansoor alias Bhoora Khan, a 62-year-old scrap dealer, his wife Zubeda, 60, and their son Mohd Yaqoob, 18, were found stabbed to death with a screwdriver on Monday. The couple had six children; one son, Matloob, is jailed on murder charges, while another, Zahoor, has a history of criminal activities.Bijnor SP Abhishek Jha said that during interrogation, Nazim reported he had a confrontation with Yaqoob at a neighbourhood celebration that escalated after they both became intoxicated. During the dispute, Yaqoob mentioned his family's gold, which allegedly spurred Nazim to plan the robbery. Nazim went to the victims' house that night, where Mansoor, reportedly intoxicated himself, let him in before going back to bed.Jha said, "Once Mansoor was asleep, Nazim attacked Zubeda with a knife and screwdriver. He then moved to Mansoor, using the same weapon, and then killed Yaqoob by hitting him with a brick and slitting his throat. He searched the house but found no gold or valuables. He fled by jumping over the wall."Evidence against Nazim includes blood traces found on his shirt, which had been washed by his sister, who also told police she noticed blood on his clothes when he returned home. "Field unit chemical analysis confirmed the blood traces," Jha added. Police also found a button from Nazim's shirt at the crime scene, lost during his scuffle with Yaqoob.Jha told TOI that video footage and witness testimonies were instrumental in cracking the case. A celebration video showed Nazim and Yaqoob dancing together, which led police to detain him for questioning. "Nazim confessed to the crime," Jha said, adding that further investigation into the involvement of other named suspects has not yielded any evidence implicating them.Jha also noted that both Mansoor and Yaqoob had criminal records, with cases filed against them in multiple police station areas.
