2 pet dogs killed in Agra; FIR filed
Agra: A case has been registered against an unidentified man for allegedly killing two pet dogs in the Khandauri police station area of Agra, police said on Monday.
The incident came to light when the carcasses of two dogs were found lying in a vacant plot near Maa Santoshi Colony on Sunday. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the animals, both of the indie breed, belonged to resident Sonia Devi and that the dogs often roamed freely in the neighbourhood.
Residents told police that a group of unidentified men had been seen in the area over the past two weeks and the dogs often barked at the men whenever they passed through the locality. Enraged by it, one of the men allegedly caught hold of the dogs and repeatedly slammed them against the ground, killing them.
The incident has triggered outrage among residents and animal lovers. A police complaint was lodged by Sonia, based on which an FIR was registered against the unidentified persons under section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming animals) of BNS.
Khandauli SHO Kuldeep Singh told TOI that efforts are underway to trace the suspect and legal action will be taken once his identity is established.
