2 passengers from Chhattisgarh on Kota-Patna Express die

Agra: Two passengers on the Kota-Patna Express (13237) died when the train was going from Varanasi to Mathura on Sunday. The cause of death is not yet confirmed. Several persons of a 90-member group from Chhattisgarh, of which the deceased passengers were a part, reported feeling unwell. Kumari Bai Nishad (65) and Rama Nishad (62), both residents of Raipur district, were in the non-air-conditioned sleeper coach number S-2 and died aboard the train. Public relations officer of the Agra railway division Prashasti Srivastava said, “Medical response teams were ready at Agra Cantt railway station and treated passengers experiencing symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. One elderly woman had passed away and a male passenger died after the train stopped in Agra.” “Initial medical assessment suggests dehydration or food poisoning as possible causes of death. However, we’re yet to reach a definitive conclusion,” Srivastava said. She added, “Five passengers in critical condition are currently at the Railway Hospital, and another person in the emergency ward of SN Medical College and Hospital in Agra.” TNN
