Agra: Two men, in their 20s, entered a police outpost when the personnel were out on patrolling duty and made a prank video which they uploaded on social media. The incident happened at Budhana Mod police outpost under Kotwali Nagar police station of Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Friday.
The video, which was widely circulated on social media, purportedly showed one of the men sitting on the in-charge's chair while the other recorded him, jokingly declaring himself the outpost in-charge.
Taking cognisance of the clip, police launched an inquiry, detained both men for questioning, registered a case and produced them before a magistrate, DSP (City) Siddharth K Mishra said.
Officials clarified that the outpost was temporarily unattended at the time, as police personnel were out on patrol. Kotwali Nagar SHO Bablu Kumar Verma said the two were challaned under Section 170 of BNSS and produced before a magistrate, who released them on bail. "Further investigation is underway, and action will be taken accordingly," he said.
Police said strict action was taken to send a clear message that such behaviour, which they described as an affront to the dignity of the force and a serious breach of decorum, would not be tolerated.
