: It seems that over 8,000 basic education teachers would have to celebrate Holi under financial crisis as they might not be getting their pending salaries for January and February before the festival due to tax deduction process.

The department had also deducted upto 80 percent from their salaries in the name of tax deduction in December. The officials said the main reason of delay in salary is the late submission of income tax papers by the teachers.

City president of Uttar Pradesh primary teachers association

Rajeev Verma

said, “The department is using the rules as per its convenience. The officials should have completed the tax formalities keeping Holi in mind. Now the teachers who are already under financial crises due to heavy tax deduction from their December’s salary without any prior information by the department, now will have to wait till March for pending salaries”.
