Two sent to jail for carrying fake currency worth Rs 1L

Agartala: A local court of North Tripura sent two surrendered NLFT militants to three days' judicial custody on Tuesday for possession of fake currency.

They were arrested in the Damcherra area along the eastern side of Tripura-Mizoram border on Monday.

Police seized fake Indian currency notes of face value Rs 1 lakh from them. Acting on a tip-off, police raided a jeep coming towards Mizoram from NH-44 and detained Hemendra Reang (48) and Balaram Reang (29). According to superintendent of police (north) Manik Das, both of them are surrendered militants.
